7th Annual Fillmore

'Happy Rails To You In 2002'

This year Pat Askren and your organizing committee have put together another fine event.  It's designed for a good time, to help increase the public awareness of the Society, encourage their support, and raise needed project funds.
Bigger than ever, this year they have added  new things: 1) a large 'N' scale model railroad display located in the Fillmore Firehouse; 2)  the Society plans to open its 1957 Pacific Fruit Express 'ice' reefer car with items displayed inside from our former visitors center and; 3) the introduction of an eight page tabloid newspaper, supported by advertisers and distributed free to Festival attendees.  Thanks to Fred Ervast, It promotes the Society and SCRVRHS membership, the rail line/railroad and our restoration and community education efforts.
Anticipating another 10,000+ attendees as in past years, on the left are photos representing the many activities that will keep those visitors busy.   Beginning at the top with the F&W vintage train rides; speeder rides; 'The Engineer Experience (you drive!); miniature steam train rides; and tours of both our #1205 UP 'National Embassy' sleeping car and our PFE 'ice' reefer.

The Fillmore Spring Rail Festival is co-sponsored by the Fillmore & Western Railway.  A portion of Festival proceeds benefit our 501(c)(3) non-profit, two hundred member Santa Clara River Valley Railroad Historical Society and our railroad turntable and restoration efforts.
Fillmore is located about one hour north of downtown Los Angeles in Ventura County on Highway 126 between Interstate 5 in Santa Clarita and  the 101 Freeway in Ventura.
Just turn north on Central Avenue to the tracks.
