FIELD TRIP:

Spring Rail Festival
"2001, A RAIL
  ODYSSEY"

  Time to put the word out, the Fillmore Spring Rail Festival will soon be here on March 24th and 25th.  Co-sponsored by the Santa Clara River Valley Railroad Historical Society and the Fillmore & Western Railway, this years' event will be the biggest ever.
  New this year is a representation of various railroad clubs and fellow societies with booths, displays and model train layouts located in the Fillmore Memorial Building 4 blocks north of the railroad tracks on Central Avenue.
  The Ventura County Live Steamers will again thrill young and old with rides on their miniature steam trains.  The Speeder rides will return as well as vendors of all sorts.  Best of all, #51 the F&W Baldwin steam locomotive will be in rare action.  Get a close up view as a volunteer.  We can use your help!

On Saturday, February 17th, SCRVRHS members will take a trip to the Pacific Railroad Society headquarters in Los Angeles.  This Society has a hugh collection of rail cars (some in the photos above), locomotives and other rail related equipment in various stages of restoration for us to tour.  This includes our sister sleeper car, the National Forum.

Join fellow members for an optional breakfast at the Fillmore Cafe at 8:00 A.M.  Park and gather for carpooling  at the turntable area no later than 9:00 A.M. The trip should take just over one hour, traffic permitting.  The distance is about 62 miles from Fillmore.
